More About Iredell Family Medicine

Emily Nabors MD FAAFP, is a graduate of the University of South Carolina. She completed her residency at Florida Hospital, Orlando, and is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine.

I chose Iredell because of its reputation as a community leader in health care. I was impressed with Iredell being ranked in the top 25 in patient satisfaction. I also witnessed the caring of the staff. This is exactly what made me feel at home at Iredell Memorial – the motto of patients and people first. One of the things I feel missing in today’s health care system is the notion of taking care of people and remembering to be compassionate healers.

My patient care centers on providing excellent patient care in a friendly environment. I strive to work with my patients to accomplish their health care goals. I feel my role is to guide and provide advice while also tailoring the care to the individual patient’s needs. I have been a Family Physician for 10 years. I love my job and feel truly blessed that people trust me to care for them. I take the job very seriously and realize that there are a lot of choices out there and I am honored that my patients have chosen me.

While in residency, I spent one month in Ghana Africia on a medical mission trip providing primary care. This experience has shaped me into the physician I am today. When I get frustrated with the challenges of being a physician in the USA, I reflect back to those long lines in Ghana of people waiting for hours to see me without complaint and I smile and remember why I became a physician. I was so impressed with how grateful the people of Ghana were for the medicine we take for granted in the US. This helps me to remember that I do make a difference, one patient at a time. ~Emily Nabors

Dr. Nabors has also been to Dominican Republic on a medical mission trip.
